The songs on Dream Analog came through over a couple years through the maze and haze of living life.
They popped through to the surface and waved.
There is resonance in nature and resonance in music that is recorded to tape. There is a feeling when you are connected to Nature. In a similar way, when you listen to an analog recording, which means you are listening to sine waves recorded on tape, you are getting more than any artificial environment can manufacture. You are feeling the air. There is air there. The real space is present in the recording.
To me analog means “natural”.
It’s about having a natural connection and connection with the Universal light of resonance so you don’t get lost in the machinations of unconsciousness and stay asleep forever.
With things going the way they seem to be going on the human material plane, the least you can do is continue to Dream Analog. Creativity and loving universal consciousness, the mother consciousness, always finds a way.
These are songs about the path to find out. To discover more about what this reality is and what we can do when we stay in our center with loving kindness.
This album is a collection of songs about waking up to yourself and what happens after you step into a new series of perceptions that change your life forever. Many of us have been realizing for sometime that the mundane physical reality is not all there is. There is much much more to the picture here on Earth. There are multi-dimensional aspects to life that can’t always be put into words. I hope that these songs will assist you on your own path of self discovery through these very strange times.
There is a certain essence that is retained in recording analog (to tape). It feels and sounds more earthy to me, more holistic. Even the digital files that were created after the music was mixed on analog equipment still sound better to me than if the music was initially recorded digitally. There’s just more there.
I hope you will get a chance to hear the record and feel it.
Analog recording allows the feeling in the music to be more completely delivered. WHY?
The recording process is completely different. In Analog recording (to tape) the whole sine wave is recorded. In digital recording there are samples taken that are then strung together creating square waves. So you’re looking at a difference in the wave form that is created… Sine wave or Square wave.
Analog recording reflects natural harmonic overtones and a warm tonal resonance because it is recording the whole wave form. Digital recordings create square waves instead of sine waves leaving out dimensions you might want to feel and know about. Even if later converted to digital, music initially recorded to tape (analog) fundamentally has more feeling to draw from for the mp3 or wave.
SO WHY DOES THIS MATTER?
Sound effects us in many ways consciously and unconsciously. It may effect the construct of reality more than we can imagine because we’re in it and can’t really get an outside view. Listen to some music that was recorded analog. Such as any album from the 70’s before DATs (digital audio tape) or look for new music out now that specifically says recorded to tape (analog) or AAA on the sleeve (which means it was A=Recorded analog, A=Mixed Analog and A= Mastered analog). See how it makes you feel? That’s the most important thing.
Human beings respond to analog recordings. Music recorded that way informs us in very specific ways. You’re human (I assume) — go listen to some music that was recorded analog and feel for yourself. You may find you access dimensions in the music that you have not felt before.
There are listening rooms popping up in Los Angeles and other places. They have a lot of these in Japan. These are bars/places you can go to listen to vinyl records. Some of them were probably recorded analog. Go listen and see how you feel.
Recorded, mixed and mastered analog. Mastered for vinyl by Bernie Grundman.
CD Mastered by Brian David Hardin.
We just received the test prints from the record manufacturing plant, RTI. They sound super fantastic! Very excited for you to hear and more importantly feel this music! I am so grateful that the feeling I put into the music is reflected back so well in these recordings. Finally!
180 gram vinyl and CDs will be released April 2020 on Record Store Day!
Dream Analog was recorded analog, mixed analog and mastered analog. AAA. Anyone that has spent any time at all immersed in listening to records (that were recorded before digital recording practices) knows the difference. With Analog Recording you’ll find there is more feeling in the music!
Enjoy the process of getting your own gifts materialized into the world. 2020 should prove to show us all more clearly what our gifts are and how we can expand them…time is now. Never forget that you are an amazing being. You are an original.
We had a great time mixing at Laughing Tiger Studios in San Rafael, CA just North of San Francisco.
Producer, Brian D. Hardin, was in his element mixing on a SSL console. It was great to experience it. The resulting sound, to me, is so much more alive than anything created in the box (computer). The sonic messages come through loud and clear.
On our way there we went to the Sequoias to hug some trees and feel their quiet strength. The simple beauty of nature engulfs you and gently reminds you that there is so so much more to life than striving for this or that. Reality is more than meets the eye. We must FEEL to access the higher realms.
The biggest Sequoia there is named General Sherman but we agreed to call it Mother Tree instead. While there we shot video for one of the songs on the album, Mother Earth.
We also shot video for another song, In The Center, at a river there. The river was a powerful presence that flowed all around me as I stood on some rocks. There were tons of dragonflies about. The sound of rushing water is good for the soul. I was happy I did not fall in! Ha ha ha 🙂
The album was recorded analog and now is mixed analog. Soon to be mastered for vinyl (and CDs and maybe cassettes. Ya I said cassettes people!…. ha ha ha). Dream Analog will be released April 2020.
My hope is that it will feed you and inspire you to connect within and grow, to create and share your special gifts with the world. We need you. Blessings to you all.
